Role Responsibility
The Assistant Editor role involves editing programmes in BBC Sport, with the likelihood that these will centre on general and Olympic sports.
The successful candidate will be expected to lead the production team and continue the overall development of the shows and sports he/ she works on. In addition, there will be editorial opportunities to work across a range of BBC Sport output.
The position will require a multi-platform approach to help maximise resources, working closely with teams across 5live and the Sport website.

The BBC are looking for someone with demonstrable experience of editing high-profile and high-impact output, as well as an understanding of how non-linear platforms can be utilised in conjunction with linear output to offer a fully multi-platform service.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience of applying sound editorial judgement based on an understanding of the target audience, editorial guidelines, programme requirements and the objectives of BBC North.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to manage the performance of editorial and production teams and previous experience of applying managerial skills, including managing performance, setting objectives and providing constructive feedback.
The BBC are also looking for a candidate with previous experience of delivering quality content on schedule and within budget.
An understanding and awareness of the BBC’s financial processes, procedures and the important issues around Charter Renewal is also important as well as thorough knowledge of legal requirements, contractual agreements and regulations as they apply to programme-making and broadcasting as well as a knowledge and understanding of the BBC’s compliance regulations.
