Leon is the founder of BCOMS and a leading sports consultant and entrepreneur.
A former BBC and ITV Sport presenter and producer, Leon has worked at the highest level of the sports media in a number of different roles. Having been an anti-racism campaigner with Kick It Out at the start of his career he has also been centrally involved in actions to increase diversity across the sport and media industry for more than 20 years.
Leon is also the vice chair of the Sports Journalists Association and was awarded an MBE for services to diversity in sport and media in 2021.
Jeanette is a sports broadcaster and former international athlete.
With her most notable sporting achievement competing for Team at the 2008 Olympic Games.
Since retiring Jeanette has successfully moved into sports broadcasting working across multiple sports including athletics, football and boxing, for many broadcasters including the BBC, Sky Sports, Channel 4 and Channel 5.
Most recently the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Jeanette is a huge advocate for women in sport and diversifying sports media.
A highly respected figure among current athletes and young journalists, Jeanette was awarded an MBE for her services to Sport and Sports broadcasting in 2021.
She currently sits on the BT Sport Utd advisory board.
Drew is a founder member and Chair of BCOMS (the Black Collective of Media in Sport), a voluntary organisation which works to help diversify the UK sports media. An award-winning senior producer and journalist, Drew has written, produced and directed content for elite broadcasters and companies in Britain and the Middle East, including the BBC, Endemol, Abu Dhabi Media, Sport360, Aurora Media Worldwide, News UK and Discovery. Born, raised and a resident of South East London, Drew is a Spurs fan and counts Muhammad Ali, Diego Maradona and Ronaldo (the original, Brazilian variant) among his sporting heroes.
Ladi is an exceptionally experienced Sport and Physical Activity Development professional with over 30 years of experience across the sector. He has been involved in and shaped some of the pioneering sport development programmes in the UK from Action Sports in the 80’s, the Active Sports programme, forerunner of the County Sports Partnerships and the 6 Olympic boroughs Sports Frameworks as part of the legacy for the 2012 London Olympics. His extensive reach with grassroots to professional sports has seen him become a credible expert voice for sport and physical activity and its position to make positive lasting change. Ladi has worked with many National Governing Bodies of sport, helping them to establish traction in different areas as well as contributing to their development frameworks. Ladi is also the chair of UK Coachings Expert Diversity Group, sits on the UK Coaching advisory group and is a trustee of The Shane Project (African Caribbean MS charity).
Carina is a Branding Executive, co-owner of a business management company, Head of Operations for the Best Of Africa Awards, BCOMS (The Black Collective of Media in Sport) Board Member, School Governor and co-founder of Black Mums Upfront.
Carina started her career in Sports over ten years ago when it was rare to see a woman, let alone a Black woman working in sport business. Since then has gone on to work across various businesses within Sports and Entertainment and has negotiated and implemented brand deals for athletes with brands such as Nike, Adidas, JD Sports and Swarovski.
Carina was listed by the Voice Newspaper as one to watch for 2020 and won the We Are The City Rising Star award in 2020.
Carina regularly takes part in charity and corporate endeavours. Alongside initiatives which promote and encourage positive welfare, outcomes for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and racial diversity and inclusion.
Marshall is a sports presenter and event host. He brings the perspective and experience of a relatively late starter in the sports media, having established himself as a Project Manager across a range of professional sectors.
His passion for change and huge range of skills has been central to BCOMS development in recent years.
