MITUL’S ACCOUNT FROM THE SJA AWARDS
BCOMS past and present came together at the recent Sports Journalism Awards hosted at the Park Plaza Westminster. The SJA’s celebrate the achievements of those working within the sports media industry. BCOMS alumni Mitul Samji was part of the Refresh team who helped to put together content from the evening.
“It was my first experience attending the SJA Awards, I knew everything about the event through the extensive contacts I’ve gained in the sports industry. I shadowed the production team from Refresh Sports and was involved in filming/editing content. I was so happy to have helped BCOMS/Refresh Sports in facilitating the interviews of the winners from different categories (Football Journalist, Presenters, Writers and some of the best outlets won the Digital Sports Publisher awards to name a few).
I helped to facilitate and chaperon the winners to get interviews at the back stage. I also had the chance to network and establish new relationships on a professional level, create a new network of support and forge new conversations in line to where I want to go in my career. I’ve always had the burning desire to try and know the best in the business and some of my contacts can resonate with that. The SJA Awards are the perfect space to network with industry leaders, bosses and some of the best journalists! I spoke to so many people that I would never had the chance to speak with.
It was a complete joy to see the BCOMS crew coming into force, with Leon’s work being acknowledged by Henry Winter. It was very fitting and showed how far BCOMS has come. I can only see things going from strength to strength.”
