London, UK, 01/07/2024 – BCOMS (The Black Collective of Media in Sport) is excited to announce the launch of it’s Media Academy, a year-long professional development initiative designed to develop the next generation of diverse sports media professionals. It aims to provide unmatched opportunities and experiences within the sports media industry.
BCOMS Media Academy stands out by offering monthly masterclasses, exclusive job opportunities, live sporting work experience, and access to the influential BCOMS alumni network. Participants will also engage in hands-on work experiences, allowing them to build a comprehensive work portfolio.
Programme Manager, Jack Badu said: “We’re incredibly excited to unveil this year’s BCOMS Media Academy, which we believe will be a life-changing experience for participants. This programme will provide aspiring sports media professionals with the skills, knowledge, and real-world opportunities to launch their careers to new heights.

With 25 spaces available in the South and 25 in the North/Midlands, this programme aims to equip participants with the skills, connections, and experiences needed to excel in the dynamic world of sports media.
Previously known as the ‘Masterclass Programme’, the role BCOMS plays in training and developing professionals from diverse backgrounds has grown and evolved, which is now reflected in the new name ‘Media Academy’. Over recent years, participants have also benefited from the expansion of organisations which partner with BCOMS and share a common goal of diversifying the sports media.
