Hours of Work: Such hours as necessary to carry out your duties. This will involve a minimum of 36 hours and may include working outside normal office hours at evenings and weekends and on Public Holidays.
Location: The normal place of work is Bloomsbury Street, London (WC1B); however this role will involve national travel to other EIS sites.
ROLE SUMMARY
This role is responsible for:
Supporting the Marketing & Communications Directorate in devising the communications strategy and managing its implementation across a variety of channels, with a particular focus on media relations and content creation, which will raise awareness of the EIS and enhance its reputation
Communications campaign support to the organisation to ensure effective roll-out of new and existing programmes
Development and production of communications resources and materials to support colleagues and EIS practitioners in showcasing the role, success and achievements of the organisation
Line management of the Communications Officer within the Communications Team
Management, development and review of the EIS brand and corporate identity
MAIN TASKS AND ACTIVITIES
Support the development, implementation and review of a Communications strategy that will proactively target media and raise awareness of the EIS, its impact and its achievements and thereby contribute to the achievement of the organisation’s vision, to be the world leading institute of high performance sport
Liaise with EIS internal teams to scope out the communications campaigns and projects required to support their work including athlete education & awareness, National Governing Body communications, practitioner recruitment and internal communications
Oversee the process of developing and producing marketing and branding materials including briefing the agency and managing the production process through until sign-off
Manage the annual communications budget and relationships with agencies to ensure all elements are delivered effectively and efficiently
Provide communications advice to colleagues across the organisation on media and communications issues and opportunities
Provide advice and develop strategies on how to manage issues that have the potential to impact negatively on the reputation of the EIS and its employees
Demonstrate people management skills and act as a line manager to the Communications Officer within the Communications team, with responsibility for their personal development plan and overseeing their annual appraisal, in conjunction with the Director of Marketing & Communications
Maintain relationships with senior communications representatives from other organisations within the high performance system including UK Sport, BOA, BPA, other HCSIs and the national governing bodies of sport (NGB)
Work closely with the Business Development Manager to provide the necessary communications support required for the effective implementation of commercial partnerships
Manage the development of the EIS brand identity and its implementation across all channels including performance environments, promotional materials, digital channels and use by commercial partners
Develop, cultivate and maintain positive, mutually beneficial relationships with the EIS’s key target press and broadcast media
Oversee the EIS’s Press Office function and be one of the primary media contacts within the EIS with responsibility for managing and fulfilling journalists’ requests
Put in place an effective monitoring and evaluation framework for Communications across all channels (including press, digital and social media), which informs future activity
Ensure all communications activity adheres to current legislation and guidance regarding accessibility
