Football.London: social media editor


Football.London is the first 24/7 fan-led resource for the Capital’s Football Clubs. We’re looking for a Social Media Editor to join our team to shine a light on the issues fans really want to know about, providing rolling coverage of the latest news, and creating interactive quizzes and games.

We’re looking for a media professional who has a high journalistic standards and background. Ideally, you will understand the humour and mentality of football fans to have a unique “voice” on social media.

You will have a proactive approach to content production and promotion and an understanding of how social media shapes fan conversations.

We expect our employees to maintain the highest personal standards of professionalism and integrity at all times within the framework of current legislation. Ensuring that Trinity Mirror’s editorial and company policies are upheld across the newsroom and maintaining a thorough, up-to-date knowledge of media law and IPSO code is required.

In order to succeed in this role you will:

  • engage with London football fans through social media
  • build a community of supporters who feel an affiliation with our brand
  • produce outstanding multi-platform social content across a number of different channels
  • own and run different social channels for different clubs, finding the right voice for each
  • explore and advise on emerging platforms where we can expand our brand
  • support the Editor and rest of the team with editorial responsibilities
  • use analytics and data intelligence to guide your social strategy
  • cover major stories, breaking sport news and be part of fan conversations in a fast-paced digital environment
  • maximise opportunities for audience engagement and interaction
  • identify new opportunities for growth and development, particularly around digital sports content
    ensure all work at all times conforms to Trinity Mirror policies and procedures

Trinity Mirror plc has a strong benefits package which includes, for this role, a base salary of £29,500 per annum (depending on experience), 33 days holidays including Bank holidays, a competitive pension along with an extensive flexible benefits portfolio. As this role requires a 24/7 operation, you will need to work shifts and have a driving license.
