Sub-Editor Vacancy – Sport @ Guardian News & Media (London)


We are now looking for a Sub-editor to provide a cross-platform role, performing for the Sport desk. This role is offered on a 12-month fixed term basis.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Layout print pages
  • Sub copy
  • Write furniture
  • Revise sub when required
  • Proof read printed proofs/live articles
  • Collate pictures/graphics/multimedia output
  • Fit copy
  • Assign keywords
  • Publish stories
  • External linking and cross-referencing

May possibly be called on for the following:

  • Edit and layout web pages
  • Select pictures/graphics
  • Create galleries, polls and quizzes

Our ideal candidate will have strong subbing and production ideally of sport sections on a national newspaper or website. You must also have a demonstrable enthusiasm for and interest in print and web journalism
