Date of Placement: Up to 10 days between Thursday 27 June – Mon 15 July 2019
Location: London
Length: up to 10 days
There will be six Placements within the TV Production Team and 1 placement within the Radio Production Team (potentially with the opportunity to swap mid-placement).
With both BBC Production Teams, you will be helping out at Wimbledon during the tennis fortnight. The Championships runs for 13 days from Monday 1 July to Sunday 14 July 2019, and you may also be required for set-up days/clear-up days the week beforehand and Monday after the Championship ends. (There is usually no play on the middle Sunday (7 July) and you would have a day off, but should play overrun and take place on that day, we would need you to be available).
The successful candidates will be mentored by the Production Management Team and duties may include running errands; assisting film crews/radio reporters; collecting and distributing press releases/orders of play/running orders etc; meeting programme guests and escorting around grounds; general office duties; prop sourcing; assisting commentators including delivering refreshments.
You will have an opportunity to visit various parts of the whole media operation at Wimbledon and to find out something about the organisation of a major event. This is not a structured placement – it’s very much up to you to take the initiative throughout the placement.
You don’t need a media qualification to apply. You just need to be able to show us that you’re passionate about Sport and Television & Radio as well as have a genuine desire to find out what the industry has to offer.
