BCOMS co-ordinator, Marshall Norbal, joined Sports Weekly host, Neil Reynolds and Kick It Out’s Troy Townsend to discuss the current issues with ethnic diversity within sports and sports media.

The programme went to air on Tuesday 15th of November and many issues were discussed including the lack of equality within Sports Media, why BAME managers are few and far between and how there is a lack of ethnic diversity in senior management positions within sport and the media .

Marshall spoke of Leon Mann’s experiences within the media and the journey he has made through Kick It Out and the BBC and how young people need role models like him and the recent D Word 2 Conference in October.

Troy Townsend talked about how few black or ethnically diverse managers there are now in the football leagues in the UK and how managers of the future need to be given solutions whilst challenging the top of the game to be more diverse.

Sports Weekly is on every Tuesday on Islam Channel on Sky 806, watch the full interview here
