BCOMS: OPERATIONS MANAGER


About the Role:

We are seeking an Operations Manager to lead on the management of the day-to-day work delivered by the Black Collective of Media in Sport (BCOMS) and help drive the development of the organisation.

The ideal candidate will be an expert in project management, have an understanding of the sports media and the lack of diversity within it and be able to work with our high-level contacts across the industry to ensure BCOMS work is making an impact.

The role will require the successful candidate to manage budgets, coordinate the work delivered by consultants and help develop and grow the organisation. 

The successful candidate will report into BCOMS board.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the development and growth of BCOMS’ work in the community and within the wider sports media, with the help and guidance of the BCOMS board.
  • Manage all relationships – including those with top level senior executives – across BCOMS’ partners.
  • Co-ordinate consultants in line with the industry needs.
  • Oversee BCOMS’ D Word conference to be held in Autumn 2021.
  • Oversee and manage BCOMS budgets.
  • Create reports and presentations for partners.

Person specification

  • Have an excellent understanding and track record of work in Diversity, Equality and Inclusion.
  • Be self-motivated with strong ideas to develop the organisation.
  • Be a good team player and leader.
  • The successful candidate must be able to handle confidential information.
  • Have strong presentational and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience managing a small team.
  • An understanding of identifying funding opportunities is desirable.
