BRIAN MATOVU REFLECTS ON HOSTING ARSENAL MASTERCLASS

BCOMS ALUMNI WELCOMES MASTERCLASS COHORT TO ARSENAL FC.

” The BCOMS Masterclass at the Emirates Stadium was a special moment for me because it was an event I was able to organise as an employee of Arsenal Football Club.

Funnily enough, just the year before I was an attendee of the Emirates Stadium masterclass hoping to work at my dream club. Fast forward a year later and I’m finally here as a Club Link Officer and Academy Matchday Reporter.

However, I would not have been here without the help of BCOMS. Last year, I was one of the inaugural recipients of the BCOMS x Chelsea Foundation bursary which gave me the opportunity to complete my NCTJ. This gave me an invaluable foundation and knowledge of what I do now as I had the experience of covering games which is what I do on a regular basis for the Arsenal Academy teams.

Being at Arsenal has been a fantastic ride so far, helping out in the Community team and providing opportunities to our participants as the Club Link Officer brings me joy. Additionally, working closely with the Academy players in covering their matches for Arsenal’s official social channels is just as enjoyable. I pinch myself every time I go to work that I work for one of the world’s biggest clubs. I hope that the masterclass which was attended by four other members of the Arsenal media team will inspire others that their breakthrough is right around the corner and I am a testament to that. “
