BBC Sport are looking for an executive editor to join their Cricket team in charge of TV and iPlayer Commissioning.
This is a full-time role based at MediaCity in Salford.
Reporting to BBC Sport’s Head of Cricket, the Editor will be part of a senior team responsible for the delivery of cricket across all platforms and services. They will specifically lead on TV, overseeing production of the live coverage of the new 100-ball domestic competition, plus highlights of every men’s and women’s England home international match.
Together with the Editor of the BBC Sport website they will drive the BBC’s online coverage of cricket, including through social media and short-form video. And working closely with the Test Match Special lead, they will develop a talent strategy for the sport that will particularly appeal to a young and diverse audience.
They will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, with specific focus on the rights-holding governing body as the BBC increasingly focuses on its public service remit around driving participation in sport.
Aside from TV cricket, the Editor will also commission sports programming for iPlayer. This is a crucial route for BBC Sport to reach audiences, especially 16-34 year-olds, and the Editor will work with colleagues from across the division to deliver bespoke iPlayer content that is distinct from and complements our live output.
The role will exercise considerable discretion within broad limits of editorial reference and manage a diverse multi-skilled production team.
