What are you looking for?

Junior Journalist Apprentice @ PA Media

Closing Date: 5th December

PA Media is offering a fantastic opportunity for a potential journalist to join the PA newsroom on two-year apprenticeships starting in January 2021.

What you’ll need …

No previous experience is necessary as you’ll begin by shadowing sports and news reporters in our newsrooms in January 2021 before starting a 17-week NCTJ-approved journalism course with PA Training later that month.

What they can offer you …

The course will cover all core aspects of newspaper journalism (print and digital), including reporting, feature writing, interview techniques, developing stories, shorthand, using social media, and media law and ethics.

The course will also ensure you gain a detailed understanding of how the courts, public services and government in the UK work, and how they impact on the public and the media.

You will also be given the support and guidance of senior editors throughout the programme, will be given regular feedback on your work, and will have access to a designated mentor.

Successful completion of the 18-month Junior Journalist apprenticeship will be followed by up to a further six months working in PA’s newsrooms while we look to offer you a staff position.

How to apply …

As part of your application, please include a cover letter which includes:

  • Why do you want to take an apprenticeship in journalism?
  • How would you bring diversity to PA and its coverage?
