Role Responsibility

BBC Sports News is looking to recruit a Senior Duty Editor (SDE) to work on the sport output on the News Channel and from time to time on World TV News

The successful candidate will work across a range of programmes from Breakfast to Victoria Derbyshire and Sportsday responding flexibly and positively to changing and conflicting priorities across all Sports news output.

You will show strong editorial leadership, recognising the specific needs of the relevant audiences. Developing programme ideas and event coverage for the various TV sports news outlets.

Regular weekend and some overnight working may be required.

The Ideal Candidate

It is essential our SDE has substantial experience in television, radio and/or multi-media production as a Sports Producer or Journalist. Proven editorial judgement, flair and the ability to make valid decisions quickly.

thorough knowledge of sporting issues, mainstream sport and an informed interest in a wide range of minority sports is needed to be successful in this role.

Our SDEs should also have proven leadership skills; managing individuals and teams of multi-skilled staff.
