Munir first learned about BCOMS through two close friends, Hashim Otban and Rashad Jasir, who spoke highly of the programme and encouraged him to apply.

At the time, he had just graduated with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and media while freelancing for a digital sports publication. He knew he needed to take the next step in his career and saw BCOMS as the perfect opportunity.

“I wanted to get my foot in the football industry door, and I thought the best step was to join BCOMS.”

Munir’s journey with BCOMS led to an incredible opportunity working with the Premier League as an editorial consultant.

“Currently, I’m an editorial consultant for the Premier League. My role entails helping with covering the Premier League and Fantasy Premier League across the website and app. This includes working on news articles, features, match reports, videos, and more.”

This role gave him the chance to work on one of the biggest stages in football media, something he had always dreamed of.

One of the most valuable aspects of BCOMS is the strong sense of community among its members and alumni.

“With BCOMS, you’re only ever two or three steps away from accessing an opportunity or having the chance to work with someone. Whereas, in other cases, it’s like a triathlon just to get the chance of an interview.”

This network made Munir’s transition into the Premier League much smoother.

“When I first joined the Premier League, I met BCOMS alumni Anish Dogra, who was a big help in showing me the ropes. I then met Sam Akpan, who also helped me settle in and introduced me to a lot of people. Most of the rooms I have been in tend to have BCOMS alumni, so that sense of community is unmatched.”

Having successfully transitioned into the industry, Munir shares some key advice for those looking to break in.

“I believe it’s important to make a good first impression and then do the work to ensure that even if it’s just one person that remembers your name, they speak highly of you.”
